How to create a relaxed casual outfit

How to create a relaxed casual outfit. I am beginning to think ahead to when we might just have some warmer weather. I met a friend for coffee at Pembroke lodge in Richmond Park last Wednesday (she kindly took these photos). It was chilly but the weak winter sun was trying to get through. My navy quilted jacket did keep me warm. I bought it in 2019 as part of a “coat for all seasons” from Arket. They don’t seem to offer this 2 in 1 combination anymore which is a shame as it is so useful. Similar jacket to the one I am wearing.

Relaxed bomber jackets:

For the time being, I think I have had enough of wearing my joggers. Putting on a pair of jeans now seems somehow dressier and more put together. Jeans of all shapes and sizes seem to be coming back in favour. To find the style that works for you it is best to try on several different shapes. I prefer to do this in the comfort of my own home so that I can make sure that I have items in my wardrobe that complement the jeans.

Wide leg jeans and jacket.

How to create a relaxed casual outfit:

At the moment I like the wide-leg styles of jeans. Not just because they are on-trend at the moment but because they suit my figure shape. If I wear skinny jeans they tend to emphasise my hips. I do occasionally wear them but have to add a tunic or long sweater to compensate. The jeans I am wearing are from Aligne. It is a new sustainable brand that I am exploring. They do a wide range of jean styles. The fabric is very soft and comfortable.

Underneath my navy jacket I am wearing a sleeveless knitted vest from Cos and my pink puff sleeve blouse from MeandEm. Similar pink leather gloves on Etsy.

I am currently trying to find a new pair of jeans for my husband. He read the article on men’s jeans in last Sunday Times Style magazine. Unfortunately both Arket and Cos have sold out in his size. MarksandSpencer does a wide range of sizes and leg lengths so this looks like the best option. Plus they deliver to our local food store which makes life easy.

Cute outfit, Josephine. I hope you are comfortably settled in your new home. It is 20 degrees F here at the moment. Still the pink tulip bulbs I planted indoors are about to bloom as is the white amaryllis, so we are looking forward to spring also.

Wide leg jeans definitely suit you. I can wear a wide leg in a softer material but when I’ve tried with jeans they just look too bulky. They looked bulky in photos from the 1970s when I was young and very slim so surprise, surprise they don’t look better now! It’s good that no one shape I’d dominating at the moment so we can choose the shape that suits us.
