Clean and simple dressing

White top and black trousers

I am feeling in the mood for clean and simple dressing at the moment. This season I intend to streamline my wardrobe. I plan to buy less and buy better, choosing items that will stand the test of time. Good quality basics that are adaptable. Pieces that work together, co-ordinate well and can be worn during the day then dressed up for the evening. The kind of clothes that pack easily and come out of the case ready to wear.

The trousers I am wearing have an elasticated waist and are at least five years old. You can’t go wrong with a good classic pair of trousers. This year if you prefer a warm colour palette there are many styles to choose from in brown, rust and beige. MarksandSpencer has a good selection and range of colours this season. I have a difficult figure for trousers with a small waist and wider hips. I find that some M&S straight-leg trousers fit me well.

Scarf from a selection at Chicatanyage shop. This colour way is sold out; however there are two other colourways in the same style still available.

My off white top is from Arket. It is made from Lyocell, an interesting lightweight, breathable and sustainable fabric. You can wear the top either loose as I am in the photo or tucked i depending on your preference.

Clean and simple dressing

I find that I return again to clean and simple dressing. Similar looks I wore a couple of years ago here and here

You look beautiful and elegant. Clean simple dressing is my style. Minimalist. I’ve tried the last few years to add more, but it’s just not me.

The gathered yoke makes this a very interesting collarless shirt.

This is the style I prefer and am aiming for. I have finally got my closet to be black, navy, grey and white. It took a couple of years to transition. There is still one pink shirt and scarf that I think I will keep. I am also trying to reduce the amount of items I have. I now have five purses, two wallets and a tote. Living in Canada it requires items for -25C to +30C. I have a huge walk in closet that looks half bare. I hope I can keep it that way. Love your Blogs.

Sharon, you took the words out of my mouth!!! Except for grey ( which doesn’t suit me) which I replace with red. I have the velvet corduroy trouser suit in deep pink from M&S for this Autumn/Winter, it’s my one colour “folie” for this year!!I Josephine, you look “très chic” ,a dash of colour from the scarf on black and white, simple is perfect. Best wishes

You always look great and like your styling very much. I can’t wear heels now but those shoes you are wearing would be ideal for me. Just to finish off I’ve actually bought a pair of white trainers after looking at you wearing them with different outfits. I feel great and youthful in them.

    Thank you
