What to wear to an open air opera on a summers evening

We spent a glorious evening at the Holland Park Opera recently and for once it was sublimely hot so I had an opportunity to wear my lighter weight linens, often a rarity in an English summer. As the nights begin to slowly set in it is probably the last few weeks of wearing our summer clothes before our minds turn to Autumn wardrobes. I know we are advised to “shop forward” before all the best pieces disappear but personally I refuse to contemplate “wooly” outfits just yet and intend to enjoy the moment.

Are you planning your winter wardrobes now or do you wait till the weather turns?
I’m over at visible Monday. Check it out.

A lovely set of summer. With the scarf, which is beautiful, the outfit is perfect.

The scarf is such a beautiful touch to a lovely outfit! As much as I want to hang on to summer, I do find myself being drawn to the Autumn fashions. My biggest challenge right now is finding something that looks summery enough for now, but will transition nicely into Fall.

I really like these airy linens, in summer white. I, too, wait for the weather to change before I can buy boots and sweaters : > You look lovely and thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!

You are fully engaged in the moment with your gorgeous summer ensemble. Your scarf is the perfect accent for a warm evening.

However, I can’t wait to wear my boots!

You.look.awesome! It’s the perfect outfit for the occasion.
I don’t really plan (seasonally)ahead with my outfits, but sometimes happen upon something that’ll have the wait…if I can only remember it when the weather changes!

Your outfit is very elegant. I love your scarf. In August, I start to think about what I can use from my closet and what I might need for fall.

So glad your summer has finally arrived and that you’re making the most of it. That’s certainly a lovely, easy outfit to enjoy it in! I’m saving and waiting for some specific fall purchases … and trying NOT to fall for the first leather jacket that flirts with me this season.

Since “real” winter doesn’t start here in FL until about Dec., I’m still in summer dress mode. You look very elegant.

Ahh, opera in the summer…..whether open air or in a theater, I love it!

Just back from Seattle for the “Ring Cycle.” It was fabulous! Since it was indoors, most of the patrons were dressed “to the nines.” Still, the atmosphere was less formal than in fall and winter.

    You would have loved it.

You look lovely! I wanted to try and pick up some winter things but it’s gotten so hot, I’ll be scrambling I can tell. Or maybe I will actually hit up an air conditioned store soon!
