Planning your Autumn wardrobe continued

I have just returned from cycling to our local village to stock up on fresh veggies. I am lucky in that I live in South West London very close to the river Thames so I can cycle or walk along the tow path. At this time of year, the river has taken on a grey/blue tinge which reflects the change of season. The trees have turned gorgeous golden shades of bronze and rust. A few of the mottled bushes look similar to the leopard skin bag above. Leopard print continues to be “on trend” this season. In fact, I think it has become a classic as it now makes an appearance in some form most autumns. Personally, I don’t wear leopard as part of an outfit as it tends to clash with my cool colouring. However for bags and shoes that is another question. Leopard is a great addition to most wardrobes.

Black/red necklace / Leopard print shoes (similar US) / burgundy ankle boots (UK link) / Green cross body bag / burgundy/black studded loafer/ ethnic necklace / Leopard bag with red tassel (Uk link).

I have also noticed that a deep bottle green has joined the party this season. It is one of my favourite colours and has been out of favour for a few years now. I will definitely be investing in some green. khaki is also very popular, perhaps it also has become a perennial. Again I prefer the cooler toned greens and will definitely be purchasing this green top by MeandEm. I intend to experiment with unusual colour combinations this season. I will probably be trying this top with my pink coat or possibly my light burgundies from last year.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • I was in London about 2 weeks ago along the Thames to sightsee. It was absolutely beautiful, and the countryside of England was breathtaking! I hope to be able to visit again some day! I enjoy your blog very much!!

    • Hi Mindy
Yes, our part of the Thames is very green and beautiful. Glad you enjoyed your trip and hope you come back to visit our green and pleasant land soon.

  • I'm really drawn to the bottle green color you show in your post. I've seen it paired with leopard. If it's the right shade, the two together make a lovely and unique pair. Thanks for the post!

  • I am another fan of bottle green, which is a good thing in a season of burgundy and pastel pink. Those two are suited to accessories only for me.

    • I agree I am glad bottle green is pack. I intend to wear it with my pinks and burgundies. If those colours do not suit it would look equally good with the warm rusts and browns.
