Provencal life & St Tropez news

Provencal life - St. Tropez news

Provencal life in the summer. From time to time I like to bring you my news/views from St.Tropez and our beautiful village Grimaud. Two of my favourite pastimes while I am here are to go for long walks in the nearby countryside and to spend time wandering round the local markets. I love to search for hidden treasures among the many jewellery stalls in the market. This visit my attention has been drawn to the many stall holders selling ethnic style bracelets. They seem to be very much “a la mode” this season.

Ethnic bracelets

I bought one of the pink wrap ones similar to the two in the top left hand corner. It is great fun and lifts some of my simple linen shifts and separates that I wear most days when it is very hot. I am still wearing these linen trousers and top first seen in 2015. I love linen and don’t mind the creases. On that note I just discovered an interesting brand that offers a simple pure linen collection. They sell through Etsy. You might like to take a look.

I saw a lot of these bags on Pampalone beach. All things ethnic with a hippie vibe were very much in evidence in St. Tropez this season. I found some pretty ones at Etsy.

I definitely think that I have a bracelet obsession this year.

Hats, hats and more hats. I just love Fedoras.

This is an outfit in the window of my favourite boutique in St. Tropez. It is hidden down one of the side streets and never fails to have an interesting “ensemble” in the window. Here I love the pairing of the charcoal grey with the bright coral.

Subtle neutrals. Taupe and cream. Very refreshing. I particularly like the juxtaposition of the squares, lines and circles. What do you think?

View across the vineyards. Taken on one of our many walks.

We seem to have adopted these feral cats and take them a few treats every time we walk past.

Very similar looks in Carcassonne. Though I have seen more straw bags/baskets than ethnic-print bags. Lots of cool, loose looks in cotton and linen.

There were also lots and lots of straw bags in the market, I featured them in a post in April. Also lots of linen and cotton. I am wearing a cream linen dress today.

What a great way to spend summer . That clothes shop has some lovely things , is it expensive by our standards ?

Yes Wendy it is expensive by most standards. I have bought a couple of things there in the past in the October “braderie” sales

Lovely post I love France and most French clothes as you say they are expensive but it’s the quality that counts. I live in Spain and have been adopted by two black ferrel kittens wanting to be fed and watered. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. LesleyP

    Josephine,

Ironically all my grandparents were born in Lithuania and emigrated to the USA. How refreshing it is to find Etsy selling Lithuanian linen! Years ago I purchased Lithuanian linen clothing from a store in Massachusetts; unfortunately, it was the “oversized” fashion cycle at that time so everything has been donated. I did love the items and very happy to see this linen is still available somewhere. Thank you for this update!

Envy your France vacation! Keep posting the wonderful pictures so I can envision what I am missing.
