Refresh your wardrobe with new Spring colours

Finally Spring is here. I am surrounded by a stunning array of colour. Yellow daffodils, delicate pink cherry blossom. Vibrant purple crocuses mixed with delicate white snowdrops.

I am inspired to inject more colour into my wardrobe. My basic essentials of navy, black and grey are all very well however they need perking up. I am in the mood to combine unusual tones and hues. Maybe pink with purple, green with a touch of yellow, blue with red.

Experimenting with bright colours can be a little daunting. It can be too easy to stick to the usual grey-and-navy and camel-and-black neutrals.

The Spring 2017 collections were full of colour. These colours are  now appearing in the high street and on line. There is plenty of choice available.

If you are still feeling a bit nervous of the new brighter colours you can always add a touch of brightness with accessories. Add any of these to your neutrals and it will definitely liven up your wardrobe.

PS. Good news if you were interested in the pink Mango coat I featured here. It is now back in stock Pink Mango coat.

The stunning photos of Spring flowers were taken by my friend Julie of Jafinthebox. Check out her blog and do follow her beautifully collated Instagram.

Spring layering sleeveless jacket

It is that time of year when it is in between seasons. I have not yet unpacked my lighter summer wardrobe from their winter resting pace in our garage. It can be sunny one minute then raining and windy the next. Layers are the answer. So this very flattering navy boiled wool sleeveless top by Hopefashion is just the job. I can wear it now over my navy roll neck sweater (similar) and when the weather finally turns warmer team it with a cream or white top or T-shirt.

Tips on how to dress for Petites

Petite Dressing (all good things come in small packages!) If you are petite i.e. under 5’4” or 1.64m you are in good company. Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Madonna to name a few.

I thought I would address this subject as I have received several emails from my petite readers asking for advice.

There are a number of things you can do to appear taller and create a leaner and more flattering silhouette. A little heel goes a long way. Instead of splitting your body in half, think in terms of thirds. A good option might be a two thirds length tunic with leggings or narrow trousers or a shorter top with high waisted (wider) trousers. Alternatively a short cropped jacket or cardigan with a shift dress. Consider monochrome or fewer colour variations in the same outfit.
